Women’s Day (9 August) marks the anniversary of the great women’s march of 1956, where women marched to the Union Buildings to protest against the carrying of pass books. Four women led the march which had been organized by Fedsaw (Federation of South African Women) they were Helen Joseph; Rahima Moosa; Sophy Williams and Lilian Ngoyi. If it wasn’t for these brave women and many other brave women in our country and across the world, many of us would not enjoy the freedom we have today to do the things we enjoy doing.
So during this important month, we at Lomas-Walker Attorneys, would like to honour, celebrate and recognise our very own strong and beautiful women, who go above and beyond to do what they do.
Meet Sandra Murugen, senior litigation Paralegal of Lomas-Walker Attorneys. Sandra has been employed at LWA for more than 15 years.
“I love what I do and strangely enough enjoy working under pressure. Outside of work, I love cooking, playing board games, doing puzzles and being around family and friends. I am immensely blessed to have two little boys and a devoted husband. My goal in life is to equip my sons with the power of knowledge and give them the best education so that they will be able to live a prosperous life. My personal mission statement is “never stop being young at heart.” ”
When asked what would you tell young women who are just starting to work and can you offer any advice to them. Sandra’s response was: “Work hard, start saving early, study and always be independent, especially financially.”
